Jurmaine Health has an extensive team of Neuropsychologists and Psychologists that assess memory, attention, concentration, learning, problem solving and decision making. These assessments are particularly important for people who have been affected by cognitive changes as a result of head injury, stroke, excessive alcohol or drug use, and other conditions such as dementia, that can affect brain functioning.
Common Conditions Assessed:
A neuropsychological assessment involves analysing common brain functions, such as memory, attention, concentration, learning, problem solving and decision-making. These assessments are particularly relevant to people who have been affected as result of a head injury, stroke, excessive alcohol use, excessive drug use, dementia and other conditions that may affect brain function.
The Neuropsychology Team at Jurmaine provides medico-legal assessments and court reports. We work with numerous organisations in various settings including Magistrate’s Court, Department of Human Services, Victorian Correctional centres, Immigration Detention and private solicitors for criminal, family and personal injury proceedings.
NeuroBaseline™ is cognitive baseline testing with a trained, clinical neuropsychologist. A NeuroBaseline assessment is for people who wish to know their official IQ or memory ability.
Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy (CRT) is the process of re-learning thinking skills that have been lost or altered, as a result of damage to brain cells/chemistry. If skills can’t be re-learned, then new ones have to be taught to enable affected individuals to compensate for their lost functions.
Concussion Testing & Treatment
Concussion is typically the result of impact injuries, such as football tackles, car accidents, falls, or strikes to the face suffered in combat sports. Jurmaine Health Concussion Program is fully managed by neuropsychologists who work with each and every patient individually to closely assess, test, manage, treat, and rehabilitate the diverse facets of concussions.
The Jurmaine Health Neuropsychology team assesses many cognitive domains including intellectual functioning, language processing, attention/concentration, sensory-perceptual functions & motivation/symptom validity. We work with many organisations including VCAT, TAC, DVA, Legal firms as well as private referrals.
